These early hubs seen at the Trexlertown(old) bike swap. Notice the various ways spokes are attached to the hubs. Most of these are 1890s. 100 years later, these spoke systems were ‘rediscovered’ by companies like Mavic, Pulsar, and Shimano, to be used one boutique wheels they were building for elite cyclists.
